Step-1: Input Assignment or Exam Data
Enter the name of your assignment or exam, the weight (percentage it contributes to your overall grade), and the percentage you scored for that assignment or exam.
Step-2: Add More Rows for Additional Assignments
If you have more than one assignment or exam, click the '+ Add New Assignment/Exam' button to input additional data.
Step-3: Review Your Data
Double-check the weight and percentage for each assignment to ensure accuracy. The total weight should add up to 100%, but the calculator will handle different total weights as well.
Step-4: Calculation Process
The Grade Calculator follows this process to calculate your final grade:
80 * 0.20 = 16%
.75 * 0.30 = 22.5%
. The total percentage is then calculated by adding 16% + 22.5% = 38.5%
.Step-5: View Final Grade
Once all the data is entered, your final grade percentage and letter grade will be displayed in the table.
Step-6: Make Adjustments if Needed
If you made any mistakes, you can edit the data directly in the table, or delete any incorrect rows by clicking the delete icon.
1. How does the Grade Calculator work?
The Grade Calculator multiplies the percentage you scored on each assignment or exam by its weight. It then sums the weighted scores and calculates your final grade based on the total weight of your assignments or exams.
2. What happens if my assignment weights don’t add up to 100%?
The calculator adjusts the final grade proportionally if the total weight is less than 100%. If your total weight exceeds 100%, the calculator will provide an error message asking you to correct the weights.
3. How are letter grades assigned?
The letter grade is assigned based on the final percentage calculated. Here’s the complete grade mapping table:
Percentage | Letter Grade |
---|---|
90% and above | A |
85% - 89% | A- |
80% - 84% | B+ |
75% - 79% | B |
70% - 74% | B- |
65% - 69% | C+ |
60% - 64% | C |
50% - 59% | D |
Below 50% | F |
4. Can I add pass/fail or extra credit assignments?
Currently, the calculator only supports percentage-based assignments. You can calculate the final grade for extra credit assignments separately and add them to your total grade manually.
5. Can I delete assignments or exams?
Yes, you can delete any row by clicking the red X icon in the ‘Action’ column.
6. What happens if I make a mistake while entering data?
You can edit any field directly in the table or delete a row entirely if needed. Simply click into the field to change the value or use the delete button to remove the row.
7. What if I want to recalculate my grades after entering wrong data?
You can simply edit the existing rows or delete them if needed. After correcting the data, the calculator will automatically update your final grade.
8. How can I calculate grades if my assignments have different weights?
You can enter different weights for each assignment or exam. The calculator will adjust the final grade based on the assigned weights and percentages.
