  3. Download DOCX

Download the editable .docx (named from your PDF by default), then clear to convert another file.

Which PDFs work best?

Best with text-based PDFs that have selectable text. You get editable paragraphs, headings, numbered clauses, lists, simple Word tables, and embedded graphics—not a full-page screenshot standing in for text.

Scanned pages keep the original page image plus labelled OCR text when OCR is on; if OCR is off or fails, the page is marked instead of dropped. Clause numbers such as 1., 1.1 and (i) stay as written. Repeated letterhead graphics are kept on each page where they appear. Simple tables usually become Word tables; complex layouts may differ. Signature images are visual only. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first (max 50 MB). For OCR-only text without Word export, use the PDF Text Extractor.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers about DOCX output, scanned PDFs, passwords, and layout limits.

It downloads a Word Open XML document (.docx) you can open in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice, and similar apps. The PDF itself is not modified.

Yes, with a clear structure: the original page image is kept, and when OCR is enabled, labelled editable OCR text is added underneath. OCR is approximate. If OCR is off or fails, the page is marked in the document instead of being dropped. You can also use the PDF Text Extractor for a dedicated OCR pass.

No. Reading order, paragraphs, headings, lists, and simple tables are reconstructed from the PDF text layer. Numbered clauses (including 1.1 and (i)) keep their written numbers. Multi-column layouts are linearized best-effort. Complex tables may become plain text. Exact placement and fonts are not preserved.

Yes, when the PDF embeds them. Photographs, logos, diagrams, letterhead graphics and signature images are exported into the DOCX near related text on each page where they appear. Identical letterhead bytes may be reused, but each page still gets its own placement. Images are visual only — PDF digital-signature validity does not transfer to Word. If a graphic cannot be extracted, that page is listed in the conversion notes as partial.

No. Conversion runs in your browser. Your PDF stays on your device unless you choose to download the DOCX result.
