Read a QR code from a screenshot or photo
You can select a saved screenshot or photo of a QR code—from a poster, packaging, slide, or message thread. Prefer the original, clear image and keep the white border (quiet zone) around the code visible.
On a phone, save the image to your camera roll or files app first, then choose that file here. This page does not paste from the clipboard, open a live camera, or accept PDF uploads.
What can this QR code reader decode?
Results are the raw text stored in the QR code. That often includes website URLs, ordinary text, Wi‑Fi configuration strings, or contact (vCard) data. Reading a payload does not automatically visit a website, connect to Wi‑Fi, or import a contact—you decide what to do with the text. Need to create a code instead? Why wasn’t my QR code detected?
Detection often fails when the image is blurry, low-contrast, very small in the frame, cropped at the edges, missing its white border, or damaged.
Retake or export a sharper image, crop away unrelated content, make sure the full square and quiet zone are visible, and try again. Severely damaged codes may not be recoverable.
